Announcing our 2023-2024 Season!

Ready to take the stage?

Stagecraft produces 3 main-stage productions every year, offering students the chance to put their talents and training to use. Stagecraft strives to focus every experience on learning and growth. Auditions provide an opportunity for students to gain self-confidence and performing experience in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment!

Students ages 8 to 18 who are enrolled in Stagecraft Classes or Workshops are eligible to audition for the shows.

Our Spring show will be Newsies!

ABOUT THE SHOW

It's time to carry the banner on our stage with Disney's Newsies! Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!

Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

HOW DO AUDITIONS WORK?

The audition process is split into 2 parts.

At the General Audition, students will be called into the audition room in small groups. Auditions are closed to family and friends. Each student will be asked to introduce themselves, present their audition form, and read for the director of the show.

After the general audition, the artistic team may ask some students to participate in Callbacks. These students may be asked to do cold reads from the show’s script.

AUDITION TIPS & WHAT TO PREPARE

There is an audition packet that will need to be filled out and brought to the audition. You will find the audition packet here.

Click here for audition tips, dos and don’ts, and a detailed process breakdown.

When the cast list is complete, it will be posted here on the Stagecraft website and everyone who auditioned will be notified via email.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are every Friday from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Dress rehearsals will be held nightly during the week of the show and are mandatory for all cast members.

Students may not be needed at every rehearsal. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be released after casting which will attempt to comply with any listed conflicts.

All conflicts must be listed on the Audition Form, and additional conflicts may not be added. Stagecraft strives to teach the importance of commitment, therefore, attendance and punctuality are documented and may affect future Stagecraft participation.

PARENT COMMITMENT

Stagecraft is a family affair! On the Audition Form, parents are asked to sign committing to attend all mandatory parent meetings and volunteer a minimum of 20 hours on pre-show, and show-week parent committees. Committees cover every aspect of producing a show, including sets, costumes, lights, sound, tickets, concessions, souvenirs, backstage crew, and many more. Our shows would not be possible without the dedication and investment of each family!
